Meet Sergio Franco, our newest team member
We have another big announcement from CFO Alliance HQ!
Recently, we welcomed Sergio Franco to the team as Engagement Director, to lead the charge with many of our clients’ growing needs. Sergio’s expertise includes a unique combination of finance, operations, controllership, startups, FP&A and business transformation. Throughout his 21-year career, Sergio has managed and streamlined numerous integrations stemming from M&A activity among a variety of multi-national corporations. In the 12 years he spent at General Electric, Sergio earned the Six-Sigma Master Black Belt designation, completed multiple high-impact Six-Sigma projects, while training and certifying several Black and Green belt team members.
Sergio credits his success to his ability to adapt to almost any environment or culture. He is bilingual, speaking English and Spanish. He chose a career in finance and accounting because “it is an international language, versatile and transferable.”
Sergio lived in Monterrey, Mexico, before moving to Atlanta 20 years ago where he earned an Executive MBA from Emory University. He now lives with his family in Safety Harbor, Florida.
Equally impressive is Sergio’s personal life and accomplishments. He shared some highlights with us in a brief interview…
Tell us something uncommon about yourself.
When I was 17, I became a professional soccer player for a second division team in the South of Mexico. I loved the competition, but most of all I loved that I was able to achieve the unexpected: becoming a professional player at a young age while out of practice for five years! I played for three seasons until the travel began to interfere with classes and my education. In the end, school won out.
Wow, that’s impressive! Which team do you cheer for now?
What do you consider one of your greatest achievements?
While at GE Power, I became the first employee to transfer to the US from abroad. I’m very proud of that, but looking back, I realize the bigger achievement was this: being able to cultivate a progressive career while maintaining a work-life balance and taking care of my family in every aspect.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Sit in a place where I can admire the ocean and take walks on the beach. Favorite beaches: Pass-a-grille in St. Pete and Playa del Carmen in Mexico.
What was the last movie you watched?
It wasn’t the last, but it’s one of my favorites: Miracle. I love it because it is a real story about accomplishing the extraordinary while being passionate about your goals.
Name a cause you feel passionate about.
I am an animal lover so one of my personal missions is helping homeless animals find a loving home. I volunteer at the Pinellas Humane Society regularly. It’s a great feeling to know you’ve helped make a difference in an animal’s life.
